Sukkur IBA University, Sindh is a public institution, recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Established in 1994, it began by offering business education in a rented facility at Public School Sukkur. Later, the Government of Sindh granted it a charter, formally recognizing its academic standing and authority. At first, the university was affiliated with IBA Karachi, which guided its early academic direction. The Senate oversees university operations, while the Governor of Sindh serves as the Chancellor.
