Pakistan Institute of Fashion & Design

In 1994, PSFD affiliated with École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. This school was originally established in 1927 by the French Federation of Fashion Designers. Through extensive consultations, experts created a four-year curriculum tailored to local and global fashion needs. Mrs. Abbasi Akhtar, the first Principal, led the initiative with a highly qualified faculty team. They recruited professionals from both Pakistan and abroad to ensure diverse expertise. The team carefully designed the curriculum to align with French fashion education standards.

In 2005, PSFD partnered with Mod’Spe Institute of Marketing, Paris. Founded in 1993, Mod’Spe aimed to enhance faculty training and fashion marketing education. This collaboration strengthened the Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Programme at PSFD.

Further expanding its global ties, Pakistan Institute of Fashion & Design (PIFD) collaborated with the University College of Boras, Sweden, in 2007. A year later, it affiliated with the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) in 2008. This enabled advanced training in Jewellery Design and Gemological Sciences for students and faculty.

A major milestone came in 2011 with the enactment of the PIFD Act. This law granted PSFD degree awarding status, giving its graduates global and national recognition.
