In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Government of Pakistan and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) have officially rolled out the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Memorial Fellowship.
This nationwide initiative offers a six-month international research placement for eligible PhD scholars to advance scholarly understanding, honor the Quaid’s legacy, and foster global academic collaboration.
Core Objectives of the Fellowship
- Promote advanced academic research on the life, vision, thought, leadership, role, and contributions of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
- Deepen understanding of his political, social, and constitutional ideals.
- Encourage high-impact international research attachments at leading universities abroad.
Detailed Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following mandatory requirements to be considered:
- Nationality & Enrollment: Must be a Pakistani or AJK national enrolled as a full-time PhD student at a recognized local university.
- Coursework Progress: Must have completed at least 18 credit hours of PhD coursework.
- Timeline Constraint: Must have completed between 18 months and 3.5 years of PhD enrollment at the time of application.
- Test Requirement: Must have successfully passed the GAT Subject Test or University Admission Test during PhD admission.
- Research Approvals: Must hold an official BASR/DASR-approved research topic and complete synopsis.
- Foreign Acceptance: Must possess an official invitation/acceptance letter from a top-ranked foreign university, institute, or laboratory (ranking among QS or THE World University Rankings).
Financial Fellowship Package
Selected PhD scholars receive comprehensive funding support during their 6-month research stay abroad:
- Airfare: Economy class return airfare provided up to USD 1,300 (arranged directly by HEC).
- Monthly Living Allowance:
- USA: $1,500 / month
- UK: £750 / month
- Germany, Austria, Netherlands: €975 / month
- Rest of Europe: €900 / month
- China, Korea, Malaysia: $800 / month
- Rest of the World: $1,200 / month
- Bench Fee: Covered up to approved limits under standard HEC guidelines where applicable.
