About LUMHS
LUMHS is a public medical university in Jamshoro, Sindh, on a 570-acre campus. It began life as a medical school in 1881, became Liaquat Medical College in 1942, and was upgraded to Pakistan’s first public-sector medical university in January 2001.
It’s HEC-recognized and PMDC-accredited (the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council — worth knowing that this body was briefly replaced by the “Pakistan Medical Commission” between 2019 and 2022, but courts restored PMDC as the legal regulator, so PMDC is the correct current name). It’s affiliated with Liaquat University Hospital (Jamshoro and Hyderabad campuses), Bilawal Medical College Hospital, and NIMRA Cancer Hospital.

Postgraduate: FCPS/MCPS/MD/MS residency programs across clinical specialties, plus M.Phil and PhD research degrees in basic medical and health sciences.

A few honest notes:
- These are self-finance rates. District/open-merit seats cost dramatically less — typically a few thousand to a few tens of thousands per year — since they’re subsidized public seats, but exact current open-merit dues aren’t published in a single consolidated table on the site, so confirm directly with the relevant institute.
- Fees have risen noticeably across cycles — Pharm-D’s self-finance fee nearly doubled between the 2022–23 and 2025–26 cycles. Don’t rely on any fee figure, including this one, without checking the current prospectus.
- A non-refundable Rs. 5,000 entry test/processing fee applies to most BS programs (a separate Rs. 5,000 applies specifically for BS Biomedical Engineering and BS Business & IT).
Eligibility & Admission
- MBBS/BDS: You apply through your Sindh district’s PRC/domicile allocation to the specific public medical university tagged to that district — not a single centralized LUMHS-only form. MDCAT (via PMDC/PMC) is mandatory, and admission runs through Leopard Courier Service centers with a Rs. 3,500 processing fee per program.
- BS Degree Programs: Minimum 50% marks in HSSC Pre-Medical (or A-Level equivalent via IBCC) for most programs; DPT, Pharm-D, BS Biomedical Engineering, and BS Business & IT require a higher 60% threshold.
- Merit formula for BS programs: 50% weight on your HSSC/FSc score, 50% weight on the LUMHS entry test — a computer-based test held at the Jamshoro campus.
- BS Nursing age limit is stated on the official notice as 14 to 35 years — that lower bound looks unusual and may be a typo on the university’s own notice, so confirm directly with the admissions office rather than assuming it’s accurate.

- Pay the non-refundable entry test/processing fee (Rs. 5,000 for most BS programs) via HBL or online banking.
- Sit the computer-based entry test at the LUMHS Jamshoro campus on the announced dates.

- If not selected on open merit, self-finance and overseas Pakistani categories open separately with their own (higher) fee schedule.
