Kohsar University Murree is a public university set up by the Government of Punjab under the Kohsar University Murree Act 2020. HEC recognises it fully. It also works with Punjab Higher Education Commission.
Main admin block sits at Kashmir Point, Murree. The university runs several campuses across the hill station – Jhika Gali, GPO Chowk near Mall Road, Punjab House area, Resource Centre, and others. All sit in scenic spots known as the Queen of Hills.
It is co-educational. Boys and girls study together on the same campuses. The focus is higher education for Murree and nearby mountain areas, with special attention to tourism, environment, and local development.

Fee Structure
As a public university, fees stay affordable compared with private options. Exact semester figures are not always listed publicly and can change.
Most BS programs fall in the subsidised public range. Application processing fee is usually Rs 1,000 (demand draft or bank transfer to the university account).
One-time admission and registration charges apply in the first semester. Lab or practical fees may add a small amount for science programs.
Students can pay semester-wise. Need-based instalment requests are sometimes considered through the accounts office. Always generate the latest challan from the official portal or ask the admissions desk before depositing money.

Eligibility
- Most BS programs: minimum 45% marks in Intermediate or equivalent.
- Computer Science and Software Engineering: usually 50%.
- Lateral entry (5th semester): 14 years of education with required marks.
- Awaiting-result students can apply with a hope certificate.
Some programs need a university entry test. Others run on pure merit.

- Choose up to three program preferences.
- Pay the Rs 1,000 processing fee via demand draft in favour of Treasurer Kohsar University Murree or bank transfer.
- Submit the printed form, fee proof, attested documents, and CNIC/B-Form to the Admin Block at Kashmir Point.
- Watch for merit lists on the website.
Reserved seats exist for Murree, Kotli Sattian and Kahuta residents (around 20%), children of martyrs, disabled students, minorities, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and certain tribal areas.

Campuses sit in the cool, green hills of Murree. Buildings are spread out – some in older college premises, others in adapted government facilities. Smart classrooms and internet (via HEC) are available. Science labs support practical work in biology, chemistry, and computing.
Hostel and transport facilities exist for outstation students, though capacity is still growing. The natural setting is a big plus – clean air and mountain views.
Vibe is quieter and more community-focused than big-city universities. Student societies and local tourism-related activities take place.
Honest view
Pros: Affordable public fees, scenic location, relevant programs like Tourism & Hospitality and Forestry for the area, reserved seats for local students, co-education.
Cons: Relatively new university (started 2020), so some facilities and faculty depth are still developing. Limited program variety compared with older big universities. Winter weather can affect transport.
Compared with older public universities in Rawalpindi or Islamabad, Kohsar offers a calmer hill-station environment and stronger local focus, but fewer established research labs and alumni networks.
