Kinnaird College for Women is one of Pakistan’s oldest and most respected institutions for female education. Founded in 1913, it was reorganised under the Punjab Ordinance of 2002 as a degree-awarding college.
HEC recognises it fully. It operates as a public-sector autonomous college and awards its own degrees.
Location: 93 Jail Road, G.O.R-I, Lahore. The campus covers about 20 acres with gardens and historic buildings.
It is strictly women-only at every level – Intermediate, undergraduate, master’s and PhD. No male students are admitted.

Fee Structure
Fees are higher than regular public universities but reflect the college’s private-management heritage and facilities.
Intermediate (approximate totals for two years)
- F.A / I.Com: Rs 358,000 – 361,000
- F.Sc / General Science / ICS: Rs 386,000 – 396,000
Part-I is higher because of one-time admission, library security (refundable) and endowment funds.
Undergraduate (approximate total for four years)
- Most Arts / Social Sciences: Rs 565,000 – 685,000
- Science programs: Rs 627,000 – 747,000
- BBA / Accounting & Finance: around Rs 677,000 – 797,000
- BS Computer Science: around Rs 723,000+
Fees can be paid in two instalments (admission time and January). Online payment via PSID / Bank of Punjab is available. Undergraduate and graduate refunds follow HEC policy. Intermediate fees are non-refundable.

Admissions Information & How to Apply
Admissions open once a year for Intermediate (after Matric results) and mainly in Fall for undergraduate and graduate programs. Limited Spring seats exist for selected majors.
Eligibility
- Intermediate: Matric / O-Levels with required percentage (usually high merit).
- BS programs: Intermediate or equivalent with minimum percentage set by each department (often 50–60%+).
- MPhil / MS: 16 years of education with required CGPA.
- PhD: Higher CGPA + research proposal + test/interview.
Entry process
Most undergraduate admissions are merit-based on previous academic record. Some programs and all graduate levels require an entry test and/or interview.
How to apply
- Apply online on kinnaird.edu.pk during the announced window.
- Pay the processing fee challan (Askari Bank or designated banks).
- Upload or submit attested documents.
- Appear for any required test or interview.
- Check merit lists on the website and pay the admission fee by the deadline.
Hostel seats are limited and require a separate interview. Result-awaiting students can apply provisionally.
Scholarships
Kinnaird offers several internal and external scholarships:
- Merit-based: High intermediate marks (often 90%+) or strong CGPA
- Need-based: For students with genuine financial need (usually CGPA above 2.50)
- Honhaar Scholarship: Science CGPA ≥ 70%, Arts ≥ 65%
- Sports Scholarship: For high-achieving athletes with minimum academic marks
- PEEF and other government schemes for Arts & Culture or need-based support
A Financial Aid Committee reviews applications. Apply after admission with required documents. Continuation usually depends on maintaining the required CGPA.
Campus Life & Culture
The 20-acre Jail Road campus is green, secure and centrally located. Facilities include science and computer labs, library, auditorium, sports grounds and student societies.
Hostel accommodation is available but limited – priority goes to outstation students after interview. Transport options exist in the city.
Vibe is disciplined yet vibrant. Strong tradition of societies, debates, cultural events and community service. The women-only environment is a major reason many parents prefer it.
Honest view
Pros: Prestigious brand name, excellent liberal arts and science reputation, strong alumni network, safe women-only campus, good faculty.
Cons: Fees are significantly higher than regular public universities. Hostel seats are limited. Competition for popular programs (CS, Media, Psychology, BBA) is tough.
Compared with LCWU, Kinnaird carries stronger brand prestige in liberal arts and media but charges more. Against pure public universities it offers better facilities and reputation at a higher cost.
