Founded in Lahore in 1986, the institute began as the Canadian School of Management – Lahore Centre. Later, it adopted the name Pak-American Institute of Management Sciences (AIMS) to mark a major partnership.
Due to consistent academic performance, Institute of Management Sciences AIMS received an NOC from the University Grants Commission in 1995. Following this recognition, the institute was renamed The Institute of Management Sciences (IMS).
