The University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Mardan was officially established on March 7, 2018, by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the KP Universities Act. The university is located on Main Charsadda Road, Mardan, spanning a total area of 172 Kanals.
Before becoming an independent institution, the campus functioned as a satellite campus of UET Peshawar from 2002. Initially, it comprised two departments Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Software Engineering offering bachelor’s degree programs in these disciplines.
Thanks to its strategic location and modern academic infrastructure, the campus quickly attracted public attention and expanded significantly. Over time, it developed its laboratories, faculty, and physical infrastructure to meet the growing demand for quality engineering education.
In 2012, the university introduced the Department of Electrical Engineering, offering a BSc in Electrical Engineering with specializations in Power and Communication. Additionally, postgraduate programs (MSc and PhD) in Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Software Engineering were launched. Today, UET Mardan has approximately 1,000 students enrolled in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
In 2016, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan approved a development grant of PKR 1.336 billion. This grant facilitated the establishment of the Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering Departments and improved academic and student facilities. The approval marked a significant recognition of the university’s potential as a full-fledged engineering institution.

Central Library (UET) Mardan
The Central Library of UET Mardan offers a rich collection of academic resources, providing students access to a variety of books at the start of each semester. The collection is not limited to engineering subjects but also includes material on diverse topics to encourage broader learning.
Additionally, the library features a digital library equipped with 15 modern i7 computers, offering access to the HEC Digital Library via high-speed PERN connectivity. Students benefit from a quiet and well-organized study space designed to support both research and reading. A dedicated research room is also available specifically for PhD scholars to facilitate their advanced studies.

Academic Calendar
The academic year at UET Mardan is divided into two semesters: Fall and Spring. Each semester typically spans 18 weeks, with the 9th and 18th weeks allocated for mid term and final examinations. Students are required to complete 16 hours of lectures or 48 hours of practical work per credit hour throughout the semester.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Computing publishes the official academic calendar before the beginning of the Fall semester. It includes important academic dates, such as registration deadlines, class schedules, holidays, and examination periods.
