With a proud legacy spanning 137 years, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences(UVAS) stands among Pakistan’s top ten universities. Founded as a veterinary school in 1882, it became a college by the late 19th century. Over time, the need for research and trained professionals in livestock and poultry grew rapidly. Consequently, in 2002, this historic institution evolved into the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
Currently, UVAS operates 23 departments across five faculties and four advanced institutes. It also runs two constituent colleges and seven affiliated institutes in Punjab cities including Lahore and Sahiwal. The University blends rich tradition with progressive educational development in veterinary sciences. Its iconic main building, constructed over a century ago, still represents its historic excellence.Moreover, UVAS has expanded to six dynamic campuses.
These include the City Campus in Lahore and Ravi Campus in Pattoki. Also part of the network are the Avian Research Center, Jhang College, and Narowal College. Additionally, the Para Veterinary Institute in Layyah strengthens its reach in rural areas.
