Important note: The BET Civil program is an engineering technology degree. It is not the same as BS Civil Engineering. BET is more hands-on and industry-focused. Fee Structure
NUTECH is public but it is not free. The fees sit between old public universities and private colleges. Here is the honest breakdown.

First semester extra charges: Admission fee (~PKR 30,000), security deposit (~PKR 25,000, refundable), and application charges. Budget an extra PKR 55,000 to 60,000 on top of your first tuition installment.
Installment policy: Fees are collected per semester. Some students arrange to pay in two installments per semester — half at registration, half by midterms. But this needs approval from the accounts office. Monthly payments are generally not available. Ask directly when you apply.
My take: PKR 148,600 per semester for a public engineering degree in Islamabad is reasonable. It is cheaper than FAST, COMSATS, or any private alternative. But it is not as cheap as old public universities like UET Lahore or UET Peshawar. You are paying a premium for the industry-linked model.

Step-by-Step Application
Step 1 — Check if you qualify
- BS Engineering: 60% in Matric/O-Levels and 60% in FSc Pre-Engineering, ICS, or DAE in a relevant field
- BS Computing & CS: 60% in Matric/O-Levels and 50% in FSc (Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical with math deficiency course, ICS, or General Science)
- BET Civil: 60% in Matric and FSc Pre-Engineering or DAE Civil
- MS Programs: 16 years of relevant education with minimum 2.5/4.0 CGPA
Step 2 — Apply online
Go to nutech.edu.pk. Click admissions. Fill the form. Upload your documents. Pay the application fee.
Step 3 — Documents you need
- Matric and FSc mark sheets (original + attested copies)
- DAE transcript (if applicable)
- CNIC or B-Form
- Domicile
- Passport-size photographs
- PEC/NTC registration form (for engineering applicants, after admission)
Step 4 — Sit the NUET
The NUTECH Entry Test (NUET) is mandatory for all undergraduate applicants. International applicants can submit SAT Subject scores instead.

The test is not as brutal as NUST NET or FAST. But the merit formula is heavy on NUET — 70% of your aggregate comes from this test. Matric is only 10%. FSc is 20%. So even if your board marks are average, a strong NUET score can pull you in.

How to prepare: Buy any NET or ECAT prep book from Urdu Bazaar. Focus on math and physics. Practice analytical reasoning puzzles. Manage your time in the test — do not get stuck on one question.
Step 5 — Merit list & fee deposit
Merit lists are posted online. If your name is there, pay the admission fee and first semester dues by the deadline. Seats are limited. Do not wait.
Scholarships & Financial Aid
NUTECH offers solid scholarship options. Do not ignore them.
NUET Top Merit Grant: 100% tuition fee waiver for the first semester if you are among the top scorers in the NUET entry test series.
HSSC Board Position Waiver: If you held 1st position in your board exams and scored at least 75% on NUET, you get 100% tuition waiver for semester one.
Need-Based Scholarships: Available through HEC Need-Based schemes, PEEF, and Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarships. You submit income proof and go through verification.
My advice: The board position waiver is rare — most students will not qualify. Focus on crushing the NUET. The top merit grant is achievable if you prep seriously.
Campus Life & Culture
The location: Sector I-12 on IJP Road. It is not central Islamabad. You are not walking to Centaurus Mall after class. But the campus is purpose-built, clean, and expanding fast.
The campus itself: Modern labs built for industry projects. Computer labs with current hardware. Workshops for mechanical and civil engineering. A library that is growing. Basic sports facilities. Cafeteria on site.
Co-education: Yes. Boys and girls study together. The environment is professional and disciplined — this is a public federal university, not a party campus.
Hostel: On-campus hostel accommodation is available for both male and female students. Limited seats though. Apply early if you are coming from outside Islamabad.
Food: Campus cafeteria serves standard mess food. Edible, not gourmet. Nearby dhabas on IJP Road exist for when you need a change.
