Established by the Government of Punjab, the University of Okara (UO) sits on a 204-acre green campus. On one side, the Lower Bari Doab Canal and forest belt offer a scenic backdrop. Meanwhile, the National Highway and railway tracks line the other side, enhancing accessibility.

Currently, the university hosts 29 academic departments. Additionally, seven new departments are in the planning phase. These departments offer 80 undergraduate programs, 35 MS/MPhil degrees, and 10 PhD options. Presently, 12,000 students study under the guidance of 131 regular faculty members.

UO provides cutting-edge facilities for students. These include science labs, computer labs, libraries, a sports complex, and transport services. Moreover, the central library connects to HEC digital database. As a result, students can now access global e-books and research articles from their devices.

Furthermore, all operations admissions, fees, and exams run through advanced software systems. Due to this, the university now functions as a fully Smart Campus.
