The University of Gwadar (UG) stands as a public institution devoted to quality higher education in Balochistan. Initially, UG operated as a sub-campus of the University of Turbat from September 2016 to October 2021. However, the institution transformed into an autonomous university on October 25, 2021.

On that date, the Governor of Balochistan appointed Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir as UG’s first Vice Chancellor. He officially took charge on October 29, 2021. Consequently, UG began expanding its role to serve Gwadar’s academic landscape.

Although UG became autonomous in 2021, academic activities had started earlier, in January 2017. At first, classes took place within the premises of Govt. Boys Degree College Gwadar. Over time, UG has grown steadily to fulfill the region’s educational demands.

Vision

We envision becoming a top choice for students seeking quality higher education across Pakistan. Furthermore, we aim to blend traditional values with modern education to offer a transformative academic journey. UG strives to extend its services to the remotest parts of the country with advanced learning systems.

Mission

Our mission is to lead Pakistan in higher education and research by promoting innovation in teaching and curriculum. We aim to provide world-class academic programs with a global outlook, tailored for both national and international relevance. UG aspires to be the first Balochistan university recognized for its diverse, globally-inspired offerings.
