University of Chakwal, Chakwal

Founded in 1949, Government Post Graduate College Chakwal laid the foundation for academic excellence in the region. Over time, it expanded by integrating the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, thus offering diverse higher education opportunities. To improve academic quality, the institution introduced key structural reforms and faculty development initiatives. These reforms aimed to produce skilled graduates who could contribute to a knowledge driven economy.

The people of Chakwal long desired a higher education institution in their hometown. Responding to this need, Khan Sahib Raja Sarfraz Khan took the lead. His vision earned him the title Sir Syed of Chakwal. A new chapter began on January 17, 2020, when the college gained university status. The Government of Punjab issued the official notification, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan inaugurated the University of Chakwal (UOC).

On the same historic day, the Minister for Higher Education, Raja Yasir Hamayun Sarfraz Khan, presented the university bill. As the grandson of Raja Sarfraz Khan, his efforts reflected a family legacy. The Punjab Assembly passed the bill unanimously, marking a proud moment for Chakwal and Pakistan.
