The Shaikh Ayaz University, Shikarpur Sindh

Shaikh Ayaz University, Khairpur began its journey following a government notification on December 12. Formerly, it operated as the Shikarpur Campus of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Authorities named it after Shaikh Ayaz, a celebrated poet from Shikarpur. This transition received strong backing from students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, local leaders and the Sindh Government gained appreciation for supporting this major change.

However, the university’s new status demands greater focus and sustained support from the provincial authorities. Continued investment is vital to preserve its legacy and drive future progress.

In 2011, the Shikarpur Campus was founded under Prof. Dr. G. Raza Bhatti. As the first Pro Vice Chancellor, he led with vision and transformed the barren grounds into a vibrant academic hub. To highlight campus activities, he also launched “Campuspeak,” a platform for communication and outreach.

Later, Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Mangi took charge as Director, then as Pro Vice Chancellor. Under his leadership, new departments in English, Education, and Mathematics emerged. These joined the existing programs in Business, Commerce, and Computer Science. The campus introduced Master’s programs in English and Commerce. Furthermore, the exam system evolved from hourly tests to midterm assessments for better academic integrity.

Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaque Mahar assumed leadership. He brought fresh energy to academic initiatives and campus life. His efforts led to well-received business fairs and sports events, attracting media attention and local engagement.
