NFC-IET began its journey in 1985 as a Training Center to address the shortage of skilled professionals at the National Fertilizer Corporation. With technical assistance from COSMO International Co., Ltd., Japan, the center trained engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.

In 1994, the training center evolved into the “NFC Institute of Engineering & Technological Training,” offering Chemical Engineering programs under the Ministry of Industries & Production. Over the years, it expanded its offerings, adding Electronics and Computer System Engineering in 2001, followed by BS programs in Computer Science (2008) and Environmental Sciences (2011).

In 2012, NFC-IET achieved the status of a Federal Degree-Awarding Institute, with Prof. Dr. Malik Akhtar Ali Kalrou as its first Vice Chancellor. The institute continued its expansion by introducing Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Architecture Design in 2013. Research-based postgraduate programs in Chemical Process Engineering and Electrical Power Engineering followed in 2016, further solidifying NFC-IET’s commitment to excellence in education and research.
