The Provincial Assembly of Sindh passed an act to establish NED-UET Karachi. Initially, it began as NED Government College in 1922. The British Government founded it to train and support Civil Engineers for the Sukkur Barrage Project.
The Provincial Assembly’s Act granted the institute a charter, upgrading it to a university. This transformation made NED University one of Pakistan’s oldest and most prestigious educational institutions. The university honors Nadir Shaw Edulijee Dinshaw, its patron, sponsor, and benefactor.
