Background
Previously known as Noshehra, the city was renamed Rahim Yar Khan in 1809 by Nawab Muhammad Sadiq Khan after his first son. In 1930, it was designated as a District Headquarters, and by 1942. It had developed into an industrial zone and a major cotton center with several factories and industrial units.
The establishment of Abbasia Textile Mills and Sadiq Vegetable and Oil Mills in 1950 further accelerated urbanization. This growth has continued over the years, making Rahim Yar Khan one of the modern district headquarters in Punjab with well developed infrastructure and civic facilities.
Given the situation, starting the first Engineering and Information Technology University in Rahim Yar Khan is truly a blessing. It benefits Southern Punjab, Northern Sindh, and North Eastern Balochistan.
Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) was founded in 2014 under the Punjab Assembly Act. It began with just four rooms, five faculty members, and admissions in four degree programs. KFUEIT is rapidly working to become a top institution in the country.
However, in the past year, a severe financial crisis has slowed its growth. The government has not released enough funds, making it hard to meet ambitious goals. Despite these challenges, the university leadership focuses on students overall development, not just academics. KFUEIT actively promotes extracurricular activities.
