The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST) Islamabad holds the unique honor of being Pakistan’s first university committed to using Urdu as its primary medium of instruction. Established on November 13, 2002, the university’s main campus is located in Islamabad, as outlined in its founding ordinance. It officially began operations the same month by integrating two federal colleges in Karachi: the Federal Urdu Science College and the Federal Urdu Arts College.
The Islamabad campus launched its academic programs in November 2003. Initially, the university introduced two faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science. These departments focused primarily on Business Administration and Computer Science education.
