Ayub Medical College Abbottabad

Abbottabad, the administrative center of the Hazara division, is renowned not only for its breathtaking landscapes but also for its distinguished educational and professional institutions. Notable among them are the Pakistan Military Academy, Army Burn Hall School and College, Abbottabad Public School and College, Pakistan International Public School and College, and the Iqra Academy.

Additionally, the establishment of Ayub Medical College in August 1978 further enhanced the city reputation. The first academic year was inaugurated on May 15, 1979, with an enrollment of 100 students. Initially, the college operated from a temporary building acquired from the education department. However, it relocated to its current location on the Karakoram Highway (Mansehra Road) on December 30, 1990.

Since its inception, the college has experienced substantial growth. It now features spacious lecture halls equipped with advanced audiovisual tools, well stocked laboratories, museums, and a centrally air-conditioned library. This library houses textbooks, journals, a Medline CD-ROM, and an audiovisual section. Plans are underway to fully computerize both the college and hospital, which will enhance record-keeping, patient data access, and facilitate computer-based medical education. A computer network library with 20 workstations. Students and Staff has already been implemented as the first phase of the AMC network.
