On July 1, 2015, the Government of Punjab granted Fatima Jinnah Medical College the status of a medical university. This transition marked a significant milestone in the institution’s journey. It not only strengthened its foundation but also broadened its capacity to play a vital role in Pakistan’s healthcare system. Embracing a legacy spanning more than seventy years, the university community viewed this elevation as a unique opportunity to serve the nation on a larger scale with greater impact.

Today, Fatima Jinnah Medical University FJMU serves as the parent body for several hospitals and academic institutions. These include Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, which houses 954 beds; Government Teaching Hospital, Shahdara with a 200-bed capacity; and Government Teaching Hospital, Mozang with 50 beds. 

Through consistent dedication, the university leadership, faculty, and staff secured necessary accreditations from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and received a regular NOC on December 23, 2017. Furthermore, affiliated teaching hospitals have earned accreditation from both the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).

FJMU has established robust administrative departments, including the Examination Department, Registrar Office, Quality Enhancement Cell, and the Offices of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC). These structures support the university’s strategic goals and ensure smooth operations.

 Building on the legacy of Fatima Jinnah Medical College and its distinguished alumni worldwide, FJMU has diversified its academic offerings. It now provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
