Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design & Heritage Sukkur (AU Sukkur) is located in Aror, an ancient and historically significant town. Aror once served as Sindh’s capital and was the site of the final battle between King (Raja) Dahir and Muhammad Bin Qasim. AU Sukkur aspires to become a distinctive Higher Education Institution (HEI), not only for its academic offerings but also for preserving traditional values and honoring the region’s cultural and religious diversity.
Initially established as the Sindh College of Arts & Design, it functioned under the Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology. In 2018, MPA Syed Awais Qadir Shah of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) proposed its elevation to a full-fledged university. Following this proposal, the Sindh Provincial Assembly passed the Aror University Act on June 15, 2020, officially establishing the institution.
For an extended period, the university remained non-operational and incomplete, giving it a dormant presence. The lack of accessible art education and the limited opportunities for emerging artists in the region further compounded the challenges, making success harder to attain.
