The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) is a public-sector university dedicated to research and innovation. Located in the peaceful countryside of Islamabad, PIEAS stands as a leading federal institution offering high-quality education in engineering, natural sciences, and formal sciences. While the university provides various academic programs, it primarily focuses on Science, Technology, and Engineering research. PIEAS offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and short courses, all accredited by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Additionally, the university maintains strong affiliations with prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. PIEAS ranks as the 4th best university in Pakistan and holds the 106th position in the QS Asia University Rankings.
PIEAS has a rich history that dates back to 1967 when Pakistan experienced rapid industrial growth. To support the country’s industrialization, the institute began as a Reactor School affiliated with Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. By 1976, it evolved into the Centre for Nuclear Studies, and in 1997, it achieved full university status under the name Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Today, PIEAS operates as an independent and autonomous degree-awarding institution.
Digital Library
Spread over 150 acres, the PIEAS campus is equipped with modern facilities designed to enhance students’ intellectual, physical, and mental development. The campus includes nine academic blocks, eight workshops, 30 laboratories, lecture halls, and video conferencing-enabled conference rooms. It also houses production plants for liquid nitrogen and oxygen, well-stocked libraries, a 400-seat auditorium, and well-designed classrooms. The computer center, fitted with the latest hardware and software, remains accessible to students throughout the week. Moreover, students benefit from access to the HEC Digital Library.
Facilities offered by PIEAS
PIEAS provides on-campus hostel facilities for both male and female students. Most students prefer living in the hostels, which consist of eight well-structured blocks. The university ensures a comfortable stay by offering essential amenities, including common rooms, prayer areas, a mosque, and recreational spaces. Additionally, the campus features subsidized mess services and canteens where fresh and hygienic meals are served. Tuck shops and photocopying services are also available to meet students’ daily needs.
Scholarships
To support students financially, PIEAS offers various scholarships and financial aid programs. These initiatives ensure that no deserving or financially struggling student is deprived of quality education. With its advanced infrastructure and commitment to excellence, PIEAS continues to produce highly skilled professionals who contribute to scientific and technological advancements.
