University of the Punjab

Founded in 1882 in Lahore, the University of the Punjab (PU) stands as Pakistan’s oldest higher education institution. Notably, it was the first university established in a Muslim-majority region of the subcontinent. Situated in Lahore, a city rich in history and culture the university has significantly advanced higher education across Pakistan. Its goal is to foster academic excellence by offering a supportive and vibrant learning atmosphere.

The university operates six campuses, 19 faculties, eight constituent colleges, and 138 academic departments and institutes. Allama Iqbal Campus honors the legacy of the renowned poet and philosopher of South Asia.

Featuring Indo-Islamic architecture, it hosts the Colleges of Art and Design, Information Technology, and Pharmacy. It also includes the historic Oriental College, which began in 1870 and laid the foundation of the university. You can find this campus on the iconic Mall Road in Lahore.
