On May 29, 2010, the Prime Minister of Pakistan announced the creation of the University of Swat KPK. Later, in July 2010, the university was officially established with the Governor’s order and President’s approval. In August 2010, authorities appointed Dr. Muhammad Farooq Khan (Shaheed) as the first Vice Chancellor.
Soon after, the Higher Education Department transferred two buildings in Saidu Sharif to the university. Additionally, Phase-I construction has successfully concluded, featuring essential academic and administrative facilities. This includes academic blocks, hostels, a masjid, a library, and staff housing within a secure boundary. Moreover, the university has also completed the road infrastructure along with the examination and administration sections. Phase-II of its development is expected to commence in the near future.
